For the sake of safety and sanity, SABAB - South Aberdeenshire Abstracts - cancelled its exhibition at Montrose Library. There were no mince pies or festive drinks on offer after all, and - worse still - no pictures on the walls to buy as Christmas gifts.
South Aberdeenshire Abstract Artists formed as a collective just under a year ago. They all live between Montrose and Stonehaven, some in more remote areas than others, and with the unexpectedly early snow making travelling hazardous, even the logistics of getting the exhibition up and running was a worry when the snow arrived.
“We couldn’t encourage people to make their way to the exhibition and put them at risk of getting into difficulties or being involved in an accident. No, we have prepared new work for this show and put in a lot of thought and preparation. It’s merely postponed until fairer weather and we’ll be advertising far and wide in advance of our new dates in March.”
